How we normally eat.

The manners we have eating, depend on the region you come from, of course the meals you usually eat and time that you dispose for.
I have had the experience in others countries, where the act of eating is very important for the people, one of them is Mexico, where people normally eat with enough time and share some ideas or anecdotes each other, and spend valuable time daily.

In my case, because of our responsibilities, we usually have enough time on weekends, so it is common to drink a beer, my wife and me, before having lunch or while she cooks, in that time we share with our girls, they are always speaking, so we use to listen to them. One of my girls likes to help to cook to her mom, so usually the rest of the family just wait, talking and laughing.

When the meal is really, other of my girls sets the table, she usually does the same, and forgets some of the silverware, and then we seat in the same places.

It is common to have a pitcher with some fruits juice, and sometimes Coca Cola, or something like that. My wife and I prefer to drink water or another beer, at dinner I prefer to drink wine, but my wife likes to drink soft or charming wine, I prefer the red one.

Usually we prepare a salad or a soup for entries, when we have time to share while eating we enjoy a lot. In San Ramón we often eat white rice, blacks or red beans and a piece of meat, pork meat or beef, ones a week, we eat chicken, and sometimes fish. We rather eat pasta and soup or stews, but personally I love them.

“Soups and Stews
Olla de carne is a delicious stew made with beef, potatoes, carrots, chayote (vegetable pear), plantains and yucca. Sopa negra is a simple soup made with black beans. The hearty Sopa de mondongo is made with tripe and vegetables. Guiso de maíz is a corn stew.” http://www.vivacostarica.com/costa-rica-information/costa-rica-food.html

  1. Hi Ronald,

I'll leave a few comments on the English language aspects, but I'll also expect your group partners to comment on your post.

First of all, good work! You've got complete ideas, and you definitely covered the assignment well. The main problems I noticed were pretty small, and they were mostly related to phrases or ways of expressing ideas. Some of them came out sounding similar to translated Spanish phrases. For example, check out these phrases:

"...the time that you dispose for."
"...one of my girls likes to help to cook to her mom..."
    "...soft or charming wine..."
"...we often eat white rice, blacks or red beans..."
"...we rather eat pasta and soup or stews, but personally I love them."

Everything else I was able to understand without any issues.

Finally, I'll probably mention this in a future post, but beware of run-on sentences. You can check out this post for more information on what they are and how to prevent them:

    Thanks!

  2. Hi pal,
I didn't know that about Mexico, it sounds nice to share with our family eating there. Your family sounds as such a great family, I'm sure you're very happy with it.
I would love to eat with your family, it sounds very delicious. And also an advice, stop drinking so much alcohol, it will make you feel better always :)

  3. Wow, It looks like you and your family love lunch time isn´t it? haha, whatever, i think that you should not drink Coca Cola, it sucks.
You know when I was younger I did not like it because I didn´t like all stuff like sodas, but my father used to love Coca Cola ( Now he just drink Fresca)
Now I like Coca Cola but I am not crazy about it.
Also Coca Cola is not good for health.
Talking about the dinner, you should drink some juice or something, but wine is nice.
In general I like your post, and i agree with you Ricardo.
    Bye!!!

  4. I feel that I did a good job with this post, but I didn´t followed the guidelines exactly. I tried to explain the eating habits of my family, and some kinds of meals we have in our country, specially from San Ramón the town where I come, as well as manners we have in dinner and lunch, and what do we do on weekends. The score I recommend is 8.5.

  5. OK, I'd agree with an 8.5. As long as you're taking your group partners' (anti-alcohol) comments into consideration!
